short note of encouragement

Hey friend, hey!

This is just a short note of encouragement. Nothing grandiose (I love that word). But really, don't get your hopes up.

So far I've put out two blogs this year which is double what I'm used to putting out every year. So winner winner chicken dinner as they say in the biz. Speaking of biz, I've also been working hard on my business. Needless to say I've been feeling pretty dang proud of myself.

Then this week I was like “Crap, what am I doing?” “ I can't write.” “I can't run a business.” “ I'm stupid.” “I should just give up.”

Besides I just can't seem to fit it in my day.

But all I ever think about is writing and my business.

But I just don't have time to work on either. Ever.

Before I can sit and comfortably write or work on my business I need my home to be clean.

I need the dishes to be washed and put away.
Laundry done. Folded and put away.
Dogs walked.
Groceries bought. Meals prepped.
Dogs walked.
Workout.
Job. (Make money, pay the bills.)
Yoga.
Remember I find Yoga boring and quit.
Check and respond to all of my text messages. Send out hilarious memes.
Check social media. Read all 300 comments by strangers on a controversial post.
Research vacation spots.
Search homes way out of my price range on real estate sites.
Watch crap TV.
Research the reality stars from the crap TV.
Read list of Jennifer Lopez's movies ranked from worst to best.

You get the picture. I'm a busy gal. The list goes on. Also: repeat.

There's no time to follow my dreams, dream big, grab life by the horns.

I mean, I'd love to live my best life, but I'm just really sleepy and I really have so much going on, so maybe I'll carpe diem tomorrow.

Instead I fill my time, day after day, year after year, decade after decade with stuff I think I have to do or should be doing or things that must be done before I get to the really good part.

Before I get to the real magic.

Every night I go to bed with big dreams, big goals, big plans.

Only to wake in the morning and fall back into routine.

I don't know if we put off our dreams because deep down we don't believe they're reachable or because we're afraid. If we think we have more time than we really do or not enough time.

Maybe we feel so overwhelmed we don't know where to start. Maybe we're waiting to lose that weight, or have more money or more resources or more confidence.

We have responsibilities. We have the things that must be done. We have the jobs and the kids and the committees.

Maybe we feel stuck on that hamster wheel...working so hard, round and round we go, never getting anywhere at all.

Yet, I have a feeling that if we tried hard enough we could find a little time to do something small that lights up our soul.

To workout.
To practice our music.
To learn that language.
To start that business.

And I have a feeling that if we tried just a little bit, consistently, long enough, our dreams wouldn't seem so far away.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but, I encourage you to push yourself. To stay up a little later. Wake up a little earlier. Get the workout in. (Just do it, you can!) Take a break from mindlessly scrolling through social media and finish that book. (Or that TV show! No judgment!)

Do something small today that moves you in the direction of your goals.

Your dreams were put in your heart for a reason.
There's nothing you can't do. You got this.

Long story short (too late...)

I'm up late.
Drinking hot tea.
Jamming out.
Getting my third blog of the year done.

Because what else I have got to do?

You can do anything.
I believe in you.
You are greatly loved.

Sincerely, Veronica Towns

ps. Sorry! I guess that wasn't very encouraging or short. What are you always dreaming about and never doing and then feeling guilty about? Let me know in the comments.
